BAD IDLE - What is it?

Hi everyone. 🙂

Right, i have a slight problem with my turbo. Its idling up and down like crazy! it wont sit aroung 700 - 800 like it should, its dropping down to about 600 to about 1000!

Its when i drove the car home last week it idled up and down very very bearly but over the last two days now of having her on the road its got worst!

Ive researched about this and it could be a number of reasons why its doing this... dunno..

I changed the spark plugs today to NGK BKR5EK ( which are recommended by other forums ). But still no change! 🙁

I plugged in my OBD - code reader in after and came up with a fault reading: P0136

I researched again about this code and it means the Oxygen sensor is at fault. Now before i spend the best part of £100 on a sensor... is there any other things i could check first??

Has it got worse since you chnaged the plugs / fitted the IK, can you clear the code?

Does it bring up the eml?

By changing the plugs, it didn't make one bit of difference! Code will not clear and i think it did bring up the EML and that was fine...

Would possibly replace the sensor then, but i am sure there may be some other things to try before this but i dont know that much about the ZLET.

Its looking towards that way... The vacumm pipes looks like they've been messed about with! Cut here and there and joint in places. But it was fine when i drove the the car for the first time..

you will have to go with the error code on this one, replace lambda

Air flow meters are very very comon on turbos!

An EML that won't clear means that the error is current at the time. Code readers or disconnecting the battery won't clear the light until the problem is rectified.

recurring eml with a single code is the jackpot

when normal every day drivers take their cars to dealerships they have a history of many stored codes, the dealer then clears the codes off and hopes that the light comes back on so they can find the problem, in theory it works great but every now and again the dealership gives u the keys back saying they cant find the problem and an invoice for a 100 quid as no codes come straight back on

a week later and the car is back at the dealership and they charge you another 100 quid plus the cost of the part cos the eml came back on 4 days later 🙂

Ok, Last Monday i had a new Oxygen sensor fitted which cost £69.00 at a local garage. By the time i got home from the garage, the idle wis a lot better but still not 100%.

It idles and sits where it should be but slightly drops about 75rpm then up over 75rpm and does that every 4-5 seconds... The new sensor has helped but something still is not quite right??

disconnect battery for 15 minutes or so

I will try this tomorrow as i need to re fit the battery cover... And il let you know if it worked??
