hi, 2nd thread of the day. my vectra 2.2 sri is hunting at idle and there is a noise that sounds like its drawing air from the power steering pump area at the gearbox side of the engine. when driving it is ok above 2000rpm and still goes like it should but under 2000 it shudders like mad. a mate of mine took it to his garage but being a rover mechanic he aint had any experience with this engine, when he put it on the diognostic, it showed no fault codes but when he tested the emissions the hydrocarbons were 1400 ppm (mot maximum is 200). the co was at 2.2 % lambda readings were 0.9. the lambda probe seems to be switching correctly. i have cleaned the egr valve and fitted new spark plugs and no change. i am seriously thinking about buying an audi if this persists so please help.
