keno2000uk am picking up my Y reg vectra sri 150 on monday it has done 84,000 miles and neither vauxhall or the dealer seem to be able to shed any light on whether the chain has been changed to the uprated one most failures seem to happen between 40-60k though is there any other way of telling. took mechanic with me to test drive and he found no problems but it will be long time before i can afford to have chain changed what would you recommend i do?
vocky if it's a vectra B then it would have been built with the old type chain kit. regular oil changes minimise the chains failure Listen to the engine when it's stone cold, if it rattles then it needs replacing asap
keno2000uk when i test drove it was first time car had been started in few months and there was no noise
Sjdickso If you can not find any history of getting it done i would get it done if you are thinking of keeping the car.
r34p3r1978 my vectra sri 150 has done 110,000 miles and still on origional chain it gets serviced every 6 months and still sounds sweet as but decided this weekend to get it a new camchain kit with updated oil jet so should now run forever and a day 😃
