don't know exactly, but it will be getting corner weighted probably in the new year dunno..

I got mine weighed at 890kg's with a stage 2 SC.

Not bad i feel since i the only lighter component i have fitted is an exhaust manifold 😃

vocky do you install the bearings yourself or does your machiner do it while he balances the crank? If so, do you use standard size bearings or undersize? and how do you know which to use 😛

the crankshaft bearings are easy to fit, they don't use them when balancing the crank, they fit into the block and craddle :thumbup:

same as the bigend bearings, very easy to fit.

they should be standard size bearings, it's normally marked on the shells as 'STD'

ps; they are quite cheap from the dealer, about £10 a bearing, but the end-float bearing is about £25

picked up a set of big end bearings (STD size) for £30 on ebay, not OE GM but made by GLYCO (federal mogul) since they sounded cheap, but then I did some reading and wondered if I needed undersize ones.. I guess that's only if the crank needs regrinding? not sure how I tell if it needs regrinding though 😛

need to find a set of main bearings now....

the usa guys say don't regrind the crank, it weakens it :thumbdown:

so replace it if it's worn :thumbup:

any idea how much a new one is? I've got 2 spare ones but they're from "locke2002" on here who had numerous problems with the bottom end knocking on both engines i got from him 🙂 replacing rods and pisons and getting it rebored.. so the only remaining old part is the crank which is why I'm suspicious of it 🙂

will a machine shop be able to measure them for out of round.. or is there any way I can check for myself.. or i might just get a new one if they are cheap enough

You should be able to measure crank journals for roundness yourself. You'll need one of those screw type vernier callipers to do it. You can measure straightness by putting the ends of the crank on vee-blocks and rotating it with a DTI on the journals. Any more than 5 thou out and I'd be straightening it. I'd say you'd be OK with a 25 thou grind on the journals but I've never done it on this engine. You could fillet roll the journals afterwards if it is a particular hazzard then ion treat the whole lot.

the owner is debating whether to fit a Harrop sc to get possibly 380+ bhp :wtf:

So summarized this is with 8.9 Wiseco's, a ported Saab head + (GM?) springs, Comp blower cams and a balancer delete?
No problems this time with the Courtenay mapping on the Z22SE ecu + cams? (Referring to that other Harrop build...)
