Have had an astra 2.2 (2002)for about 2 years now. Checked with Vauxhall when first found out about nozzle/cam chain problem from this forum. Was told all was well, my car didn't have the problem so no need to worry.
Anyway I do loads on miles in car and was getting close to 100K, and I was jittery to say the least of eventually getting cam chain problems. Checked with local Vauxhall garage, firstly told I shouldn't worry it was a non- serviceable part, which later changed to a £ 650 quote for work to be done. So, after checking about on forum I decided to contact Benny and see what he could do.
A few texts later date organised. Have to say was a little nervous having never met Benny and not really sure of leaving car with unknown mechanic. I really should not have worried, a top bloke. Within 10 minutes of arriving car was in and work commenced. Benny had no problems with me watching him doing job and discussing what he was doing and Vauxhalls in general. Certainly knows his way around cars. What felt like 20 minutes later we were taking bets on which nozzle was fitted. I was quietly confident all would be well and that I had the new type nozzle. With a knowing look and a smile, I was informed new cars than mine had been found with old nozzle. Anyway, Benny was of course correct !! As chain was actually in good nick Benny gave me the option whether I wanted work done or not ? Can't say I know many mechanics who get to that point and give you the opportunity to put all back together and send on my way !
New chain kit was fitted, oil and filter change and car computer updated with fact cam chain has been replaced. I was on my way a little while later. I really cannot recommend Benny and his work enough. So thanks to Benny for his work and thanks to forum for providing me his details. Cheers
