egr Cheater help pls

Hi pep's

Well got the egr cheater and started to fit it, all going well until i realise i have 2 brown wires and only one left on the egr cheater, now i know that the middle pin isn't used but i have no idea which brown wire is which any way of finding out?
can i just connect them together?

vectra b has got that setup

u got the egr cheater picture showing you the setup

with the egr loom connector facing you and the top of the connector on the top pin a is from the right hand side

it is pin c that u do not use which is brown 😛

pin a connects to green

pin b connects to yellow

pin c is redundant so cut it off so no wire is showing through or just tape it up

pin d is blue wire

pin e is red wire

now i know the new egr cheater have one colour wire that is different to what i stated so just use your head and connect up the colour that isnt mentioned to the colour that is missing

yeah get that but i was stupid i cut of the plug and then later noticed that pin A is a brown wire and pin C is a brown wire so now have 2 brown wires from the loom and don't know which wire was connected to pin A and pin C :crazy:

one is an earth that goes to an engine earth point - that is pin A

the other goes straight to the ecu mounted on inlet manifold and that is pin c

not a lot else u can do other than start undoing the loom cabling or put a volt meter on it [wot u could do is put the ignition on and put a volt meter on each brown wire individually and earth it off the battery earth, the one with voltage is pin c ], but i cannot advise u to do it as it might pop the ecu

Well ran the engine to test the wires and found one had a voltage of 0.05volts and the other nothing so connected the one with no voltage on and seems ok, will have a run out in it tonight to test it all

pin A is a true negative of the battery's 12volts, whereas pin C is actually a 0v from the ecu's 5v circuit.

that is why pin A is used and not pin C :thumbup:

Cheers Vocky mate, Had it on a tech 2 today and the cheaters wired in correctly and working fine 🙂
