2.2 DIRECT HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP

Hi everyone..I would be very grateful if anyone can shed some light on my problem. my 2.2 vectra (direct) EML came on with the resulting loss of power, managed to limp home. sometimes, it will start , but tick over like it is running on 3 cylinders, then EML comes on it will tick over normally but will not rev higher than 3k. I have changed the plugs, no change!. The plug on drivers side seems sooty compared to other 3, so I have changed the coil pack...still no change
Now im wondering if it could be the pump?? I have managed to locate a second hand one, can anyone please help, and also, if it is the pump, is it a DIY job?

u need to get the eml diagnosed, it could be your air flow meter

if it is your fuel pump then your unlucky as they cost about 8x more than the fuel pump on a vectra b z22se

Thanks for that...I've just unplugged pressure regulator, EMI and spanner light both gone off, engine seemed fine, full power etc. Taken for test drive, all ok albeit slightly lumpy. On return, EMI back on...now im even more confused...anyone?? thanks

ya best getting it to a garge and they can plug it in to there computer and tell what area the problem is and more likey to find it out sooner m8

Guys, I have now put a second hand regulator and pump on, initially car seemed fine then started running lumpy again. I've noticed that when I depressurised system, the petrol was almost black, like thin engine oil?? surely this cant be right?. I'm wondering if my problem could be fuel contamination...anyone?

could be the lining in the tank degrading

Thanks, I ve changed pump, regulator..still same, car runs but missfires, almost like fuel starvation.do u think it might be filter? just had a look, it looks lie its been on from new..car got 70k on clock

I've give the filter a change just to be on the safe side. Not sure what the recommended life span is for them though.

filter changed, just the same...now im going to fill up with some shell petrol and add some redex...any more ideas would be gratefully received..thx

No, its clear...when i took the pressure reulator off, i dont hink id relesed all the pressure, im thinking that the high pressure release of fuel from fuel rail flushed some crap out?. when i changed filter, the fuel that came out i collected in a jug, but its cloudy.

Does anyone know where the pressure sensor is?? i believe its a different part to the regulator. On the inbound petrol pipe, there is an inline silver disc thingy, whats that anyone?
