I took a trip over to see Daz this afternoon with Jack to have some work done on the wifes car. It was well overdue for a cambelt, the rear discs and pads were gone and I bought a water pump for the sake of it but it turned out that the pump was leaking anyway.
We started on the rear brakes only to find that i'd assumed that I had Lucus rear brakes but it turned out that I didn't so that meant a trip out in the Scoob to Newport to get some different pads. Hellfarts only had fronts and no rears so we went to Welsh Autoparts and he supplied us with both front and rear pads as the fronts were in need of change aswell as it turned out.
Back to the garage and on went the new rear discs & pads and I took care of the front pads with Jack. The pads were almost metal to metal all round and the rear piston was so far out that the winding tool was having problems locating in the piston.
On to the cambelt. This went like clockwork. The old water pump was buggered so it was lucky that Daz mentioned it was worth getting one just in case. Everything done and timed up and back together. Filled up with anti-freeze and back on the road again. Perfect!
The Suburu was outstanding!! I'd never driven one before and it went very well. It felt very sure footed and power delivery was smooth. You can tell the difference with 4WD. Sounded amazing too.
