joetv i have just got an astra convertable but when it is started from cold it makes a noise like the tappits are going i took it to the garage and they have told me that i need a front pipe gasket im no machanic so would just like some ideas if it sounds about right
Daz does the noise disappear wen warm...if so ure mans right..mine was doin the same except i had a few snapped studs too...

Andy should be easy to change yourself. i changed my cat/downpipe myself and was easy so doing just the gasket would be straight forward.
joetv im not the most mechanical minded person in the world and i havent the time to tell you the truth how does the gasket cause the tapping
Daz Done mine myself ,havin the use of a ramp in work helps...had to drill out 2 snapped studs...that was a pain...
Andy when i changed my cat/downpipe had one side of the car up on an axle stand and the other on a ramp, not much room but managed ok lol.
