kickboxer_1 Basically my engine is on its way out (I dont even understand when it only has 45k on the clock!!) the bottom end is knocking away! I have come across a 1.8 engine quite cheap and im wondering if it will go in? Does anyone know?
MikeS 1.8 and 2.0 lumps are worth peanuts nowadays m8 wouldn't pay more than 60 quid for a 1.8 and a ton for a 2.0
vocky you will need the matching gearbox for the smaller engine, plus the engine loom and ecu and keys. it sounds like your engine has run low on oil, it will be the big end bearings have gone, why don't you try replacing the bearing shells first.
Turbo_Shane Mines done 138,000 now and she runs well. She does smoke a little now ive noticed but the main issue that she burns loads of oil! I even thought of dropping a 2.0 turbo in her but end of the day.. i dont think its worth it??
sickmick 2.2 is fly by wire, also position of exhaust and inlet, water pipes etc. I see z22se engines going for around £300, shop around, just make sure you see it running before buying.
kickboxer_1 Thanks guys.I dont know about chainging the bearing shells as the car has an oil leak as well and i feel like i have had enough..... So putting another size engine is a lot of headache? Also Ive never seen a z22se engine for £300 more like £700.Where could i find 1?
vocky it will be much cheaper fitting another z22se than converting it to another engine size, plus the insurance would be more even with a smaller engine as it would be deemed a modified engine.
kickboxer_1 If i decided to get new big end bearings how much would this cost and how hard is it to do?
