2.2 low lumpy idle at 600rpm when warm,slighty hesitant.

Hi all,
recently bought my astra sri 2.2 (2001) the problem i have is as soon as the engine warms to 80 ish, when i stop at lights or junction the engine idles lumpy at 600rpm lights dim, and if i stop for a short period and try to restart, while the engine is warm there is a bit of a struggle for it to start again.
this is genrally doing my nut in :crazy:
i sometimes notice slight hesitancy in the lower rev range i:e 1500 to 2000.
i have just had the timing chain replaced for peace of mind, the problem was the same before i had the chain replaced.
and i have cleaned TB, air intake, egr valve, which to be honest all seemed pretty clean anyway !
any ideas or feedback would be much appreciated. cheers..

might be worth replacing as you say the car struggles to start when warm but oki cold

i did read about this on anouther thread just wasnt sure, think there about a tenner ? be nice as money is a bit short after the timing chainn renewall i,ll give it a try soon as i get a chance too.

Could be a EGR valve on its way out even though you have cleaned it.

i think i will try CTS 1st as it,s cheaper!, if it aint that then maybe i,ll go for the EGR cheater 🙂

I ordered the cts yesterday, won't be here untill wedsnday 🙁
I went for a blast upto Exeter yesterday car went lovely got back home, misses wanted to go shopping so out we went again, car started straight away even tho it was still warm and it is also idling spot on aswell 🙂 happy days, maybe it is egr sticking ? I'll still get cts I think.

Hi i,am back again cts finaly turned up !
fitted today and problem still the same poor idle and poor start when warm 🙁
think i need purchase egr cheater but am abit wiery of chopping wires i see someone has made 1 to fit into plug is that available to purchase ?

all you need to do is fit the blanking plate, mount the egr valve over the side using just one bolt hole

my local vaux main dealer is so crap and so unhelpfull, useless muppets :thumbdown: ,
anyway i have purchased egr blanking plate from autovaux :thumbup: will be here tomoz with any luck !!

fitted blanking plate swung egr to 1 side and can safely say car is running sweet 😃
thanks to all the peeps that gave me advice cheers..
now its time to get the pre cat removed, airbox mod so on & so on. 😃

Im having exactly the same probs on my vectra and if i dont sort it soon, er' indoors has said i have to get rid !

Had the cam chain replaced last week, although the problem was there before the chain swap.

Car stalled this morn and after starting the eml was on.

I changed the plugs earlier today and its almost back to normal, no eml displayed.

Whats this about the egr? Blanking plate gubbins? Sounds like it could be good for me - how do i carry out this trick?

just go to your local vaux dealer ask for an egr blanking plate.
remove egr valve fit blanking plate with 1 bolt, then fit egr valve with the other bolt with egr swung over the side bolt up tight then connect plug, job done !!
