EML + Limp Home Mode

Morning All,

Started the car this morning, and the EML was on. Started driving to work, and the car was in limp home mode.

Pulled in and restarted the engine, and the EML went off, but it did display that it had stored a fault. Full power restored etc.

I plugged my fault reader in, and it was saying no codes stored, even though the EML was still showing when you turn the ignition on? I've cleared the EML, and it's not come back on.

Car has been fine buying it back in July, apart from a tapping noise from the engine when warm (VX and Pentagon say there isn't an issue with that).

Could the engine be getting bogged down, as I only really do very short journeys in it (engine does get to operating temp before I switch it off though).

Just after some thoughts. Car is a 2005 1.9 CDTI 150 with 45500 miles on the clock (I've only done 4500 miles since July in it!)

Sorry to hear this Matt, it is odd that the fault reader didnt pick anything up.

It may have just been one of those things? Sorry thats not much help maybe worth just keeping a close eye on it / see if you can get the fault read by tech 2?

Yeah, it's a strange one. I didn't drive the car yesterday, but was driving fine on Thursday.

Just been for a blast upto the M1 and back down the parkway, and it's running fine now.

Will wait until I have to go home tonight once the car has cooled fully, and see if it happens again. That's the only thing I can think of at the minute.

is your obd2 reader a generic one or an actual vxhall one ?

as i know that generics dont pick up all the manufacturer dtc codes, any dtc code with the number one as the starting number is manufacturer specific, with a zero it is generic

As it happened first thing this morning when the car was cold, it may be the glow plugs, and my code reader wouldn't pick this up (but can still clear the code).

I need to wait for the car to cool down fully before the glow plugs are needed again to try and see if it comes back. Car was fine though on my run out once I'd got to work, and it didn't fault again.

Yeah, looks like mine couldn't read the stored code then.

Will see if it comes back on tonight, and if it does, it's going stright to VX on monday (after taking DTUK box and Simota off) to get them to look at it. Still got 5 months warrenty left.

get the vauxcheck software m8

it will pick up your immobilizer / TC / abs dtc codes on the vectra C along with your engine dtc's

send it back to gendan and say it wont pick up the codes and ask for the laptop interface software as the hardware and software is only a ton

My car is full CAN-bus, so Vauxcheck won't work mate
