Drakey Got sent these pictures today by our American friends.....a bird strike on a C130 (Hurcules transporter)
JohnnyN Talk about the Eagle has Landed!! pmsl.. Funny you should mention C130, i'm currently producing the engine frame firewalls for the C130. We have a large spares contract on this aircraft.
JohnnyN 10 hours each and thats just the upper half. I've got some pics on my phone. I'll upload them later. There's alower section that wraps around the underside then there's the 'Longerons' that tie down around the back end of the engine. We're massively behind at the moment. Need to be making 20 per month for 2 months then the order is for 12 per month.
Drakey some more ...... ..I`d be moving soon lol A10 (thunderbolt, tankbuster, warthog)..with a tank busting machine gun :wtf: Few bombs in need of homes...
JohnnyN In the above pic is a frontal view of the firewall upper section with the longerons (pylons) attached at the back. The chap in the green overall is the other Team Leader in my unit. He's just finished machining the pylons. 4 individual pylons with 4 detailed faces on each pylon and hole detail at each end tied up to a positional tolerance of 0.004" (0,1mm). The part that I have machined at the front has lots of holes and tight limit bores. The chap in the green is just test assembling the parts to see that everything lines up. Rear view.
JohnnyN We are the leading 5-Axis CNC machining centre in the South West. All of the work like this are done on 4 and 5 axis machines. 3- axis milling machines do smaller batch work but are gradually being phased out now. Lee in the green overall and myself oversee the 5-axis machining facility.
JohnnyN We have but its under construction since we've been bought out recently by an Indian company called Dynamatic. They manufacture hydraulic pumps here in the UK at a factory in Swindon but the owner bought us becasue of our manufacturing capabilies and he wanted to get a foot in the door in the world aerospace market. We have all the approvals needed and he wants to now expand the company to triple the size. He already has the Indian military aerospace under his belt and is now going global basically.
Sjdickso Some great photos there and some real bits of kit, it is good to see what other people work on. I could drop in a picture of a server or a data cab but i dont think it would be very intresteing lol.
Daniel lol same as could put up a pic of a dormer i built today lol love the looks of some of them pics tho drakey
Drakey Do it Danny, like I said before, may seem wierd to the people doing the jobs but not to others.
