B1 Bomber visit (more pics)

Had a free morning so called up our friendly Americans for a look around a B1 Bomber...
Quite a beast

A scale of the size...with little ol` me

Me again in the middle of the 3 huge bomb-bay doors :wtf:

They let us use the servicing steps to write on the bombs

I saw this as a fitting tribute to my Vectra :thumbup:

Had to take this one of the cockpit - still, after a 12hr sortie...you`d need it :lol:

...apart from that I`m still bored stuck in the desert. :wave:

Yep, out in Al-Udeid, wireless is great out here so I don`t have to miss a thing lol

Cheers I`ll see what I can do...picture taking is very restricted out here.

...wireless etc...all supplied by the Yanks BK`s the first thing they set up when going to war lol

Not the best focus but the airs conditioned as it`s best to work in a clean environment with a £7m sensor :wtf:
The pictures are AMAZING...and can be seen through laser goggles making the imagry 3D, capable of live data links so the troops on the ground love it.
Stand off range of normally 20,000ft, slant range 15Nmiles, could still tell the time on Big Ben.

Very interesting to see some of this stuff! It must be very hard / testing being out there at times so its great they let you come in to have a look at the jets etc.
I think i'd be asking to spanner on them in my down time! LOL.

Been really getting in to the Ross Kemp: Return to Afghanistan series... really makes me appreciate and admire the work you guys are doing over that end of the world!

Its a RAPTOR (Reccy Airbourne Pod 4 TORnado)....... uses a 110" focal length sensor. As used in the U2. We work along side CLS Goodrich on the line replaceable units and general servicing of the beast, any major re-work to the sensor itself and it has to go to Chelmsford (USA). Its proving to be a fantastic bit of kit out here, due to its data-link capabilities, giving the guys on the ground near real time imagry. Cant explain how good the imagry is, especially through the electronic glasses making imagry 3D.
