bonnet stuck

Just as a point of interest; I changed my pollen filter yesterday and would normally be a job done in seconds, however took me about 30 mins, Damn bonnet wouldn't open anyway after pushing down on the bonnet god knows how many times, lever in the car worked and managed to open bonnet and found the catch on front panel and on bonnet had got quite coroded etc so a good grease up seems to have sorted it, have noticed however, that when pulling lever (just under the bonnet) still need to give the bonnet a bit of a tug to get it up!! (ooh er misses) but always seemed to be like this for some reason ever since I've had the car, anyway at least it pops up now from lever in the car, so moral of the story is, check your bonnet catches guys before it jams as mine did!!

i had my cable pop off the other day on my astra and that was a nightmare to put back on.

That doesn't sound good Pete. The bonnet on mine doesn't sit straight with the front end of the car, and actually rests on the bumper. I've adjusted the rubber gromets, but when I raise them up, I then can't shut the bloody thing!

That's an odd one Matt, hasn't been in a prang at some point has it?

Doesn't look like it has mate, everything is straight, all the panels line up etc.

Most certainly can mate, just been trying to suss it out by looking at all the alignments and gaps and all seems to align elsewhere, albeit the centre of bumper could be sitting a tad high judging by the gap at bottom of headlamps to bumper, maybe the centre fixings of bumper could altered? however your bumper, that's not the original one is it? looks almost like the facelift/ Irmsher one ,as it looks different to mine,

Yeah, it's just the normal SRI bumper, yours is the Elegance one, so doesn't come with the sporty version.

It's definately not a facelift, as the grille is built into the bumper

Another SRI but with the signum fog surrounds fitted

Ah right gotcha, however just edited my last post with regards to centre fixing of bumper and head lamp gap

Certainly can't do any harm mate, so worth a go I'd say, let me know how you get on.
Changing the subject slightly!! Do you get much of a cold draught (more noticeable when fan is on, hot or cold!!) that comes up from where the lower steering column panel is i.e near the tilt handle and the sort of tray jobby that's on the lower panel, was wondering last week why my knees were feeling a bit chilly!!

Yeah, actually I have noticed that, not really a draft as such, but more of a noticible cold spot. Also notice it when I put the car into 5th gear when my hand goes into the same region. Never thought anything of it, just presumed it was because there wasn't really air circulation in that region??

it's a strange one, also heard of some guys feeling a draft around the gear knob but don't get that on mine, as I say it's more around that lower panel , I probably notice it more as I always have the steering wheel raised to max' height, hence a larger gap where that tray is.

Mine steering wheel is about in the middle, I can't fit a finger in the gap underneath it.

Only thing with the interior of mine is a bloody annoying rattle coming from the boot area, I think it's the parcel shelf not sitting properly on the rubbers on the boot ?

I had my bonnet release cable come off at the engine catch side on my vectra c i had to literally rip my grille off the bonnet to get inside to relase the bloody thing, dunno how it happened but i have put it back on and hope to god it doesn't come off again!!

Matt, I had the same thing with mine a couple of weeks ago, it started to rattle and also knocking over small bumps in the road, tried adjusting the bump stops on the tailgate , but to no avail, but what has cured it amazingly enough is smearing some vaseline onto bumpstops on the tailgate (the height adjusters) and on the rubber grommets that the bumpstops sit on when tailgate is closed,also put some on the lock and catch of tailgate, no more rattles now or at least until the vaseline wears off!!

Had a look at the boot yesterday, and can I fuck find where that bloody rattle is coming from. Nothing moves when I try things by hand, but as soon as I'm on the road, it starts again.

I need to get someone to sit in the back while I drive it I think.
