Europa_Blue_SE1 About a week ago I was driving up to collect my Dad from his pals house in a small village in the middle of nowhere at arouns 2:15am and to cut a long story short before I got to him I was driving along a road in the village with houses and cars on either side I hit black ice the car totally lost all control I was only doing 15mph at the most but I think the ice sped the car up a bit I hit the kerb on the pass side then hit a parked Focus with the drivers side in the rear!!! :cry: My front bumper was totally smashed I am still waiting on them to decide wether she is a write-off or not the worst was as well is I had just fitted my new Team Dynamics so I'm hoping the wheel that hit the kerb is okay I am currently in a 1.7CDTi Astra and looking at a either a Coupe Turbo,VX220 or if I can talk Dee into it I might just go for the Astra VXR? dunno.. But TBH I really just hope they can fix my car as I was going to go for a new car anyway and use it as a track day car mainly... :cry: :cry: :evil: cheers.. Alan
Europa_Blue_SE1 Thanks ecky I'm gutted mate I'm just hoping that they can justify the amount to repair her rather than just offer me a pay out as she's only a Y 2001 reasonable milage so mibbe about 1/2 book price if I'm lucky 2/3s but I really don't see if I hadn't hit the Focus I would have just repaired her myself with second hand parts bonnet,bumper etc but as you know VXL will use all new parts so I don't really see the Insurance company justifying it I didn't even get a chance to get everything out of it but did get a signature for all the stuff in the car with a list i.e my DVD player and sound set up! 🙁 It's not really been my year so far but things can only get better (I HOPE) I was really looking forward to the RR day aswell... Ah well if she is a write off I might get my VXR or T888 out of it!!! lol cheers.. Alan
Drakey That`s gutting for you, nowt worse than pranging your pride & joy....... what ever happens I hope it works out well for you, be it back in the Astra or something different...(888 Hmmmm)
john2666 Gotta agree with Vocky, buy the car back as salvage, they will charge you pennies for it although it will be a cat c or d but if your keeping it then it doesn't matter! just when u come to sell it some people may whinge.
Europa_Blue_SE1 Well the garage phoned today and they said they think it'll be a write off! But they need to wait and see if the insurance want them to repair it or not! Yea Neil I think that might be a good idea if they do as we have a hatchback Astra up at the garage me and a few freinds rent and all the damage is to the front so it could be stripped and put on my baby and one of the boys is a sprayer and another is a time served mechanic (well about 25 years in the trade!lol) but me n my dad had a look at the engine and what we could see of the chassis n it looked fine and I drove the car home about 25miles so I think the engine's ok... Anyway thanks everyone for all the replies etc... 🙂 Matt hopefully I'll hear from the insurance on Monday or Tuesday at the latest... cheers.. Alan
Europa_Blue_SE1 Yea I think that's what I'll be doing Matt I don't see them wanting that much for it and as said she would be staying with me so I'm not bothered about her being a cat c or d! Europa_Blue_SE1 I know Johny!!! 🙁 But I am going to call the garage that looked at it and ask them if their was any damage to the chassis as when me and my Dad looked there's no damage to the engine etc so if there's o damage to the chassis I am going to offer them scrap money for it as it will only be a front bumper front wing and bonnet and if I'm correct any Astra will do even a Hatchback please if I'm wrong someone correct me and the garage we rent one of the boys is a sprayer so it shouldn't be to much hassle then I'll just use her as a track day car!!! 😉 (fingers crossed) I'll let you know what happens when I know the final outcome guys...
