Hi,
Brand new to this forum, have been a member of VVOC for a while (I had an Envoy 1.6 8v), but 2 weeks ago got a 2.2i LS. Lovely motor, but i have a little issue im hoping someone might have an idea about.
Car was having the following issues:
1.stereo staying on randomly when key taken out when usually it turns itself off
2.Air bag light constantly on
3.all gauges (speedo, revs, petrol and temp) becoming stuck for upto 10 minutes, then going to zero and then working again immidiately
4.electric windows stopped working for 5 minutes the other day
5.same with electric wing mirrors.
First thoughs by some people in the know were possible alternator problem or earthing problem, however ive had both checked and alternator is fine (charging 14.4) and earths seemed fine.
Point 1 was diagnosed as slightly temperemental ingnition switch. Point 2 was diagnosed by a diagnostic machine as a faulty squib. Point 4 and 5 sorted and point 3 was diagnosed as a faulty temp sensor tripping the other gauges (diagnostic brought up temp sensor code and sensor had wierd marks on the tip).
I had the sensor replaced, but by the time i got home, realised it coudnt have been that as the temp gauge went funny again. The speed and rev havnt gone wrong since but that had only happend a couple of times anyway.
Im taking it back to the mechanic in a few days but wondered if anyone in the know might have any thoughts!?!
