squeeling from engine bay

Hi,

I have a squeeling sound coming from engine bay, only occurs when the car has been subject to heavy rain. Any ideas?

Also heater fan squeeks when first switched on! Any connection?

Hi, it sounds like you need to change a few belts, they do get loose from wear and tear . Happened to me too

the heater motor is located under the cowling under the pollen filter

does it work on all speeds

the only other thing to make that sort of noise is the belt for the alternator / air con compressor

Fan works on all speeds, it did stop working but was changed and since then deveopled the squeel which will stop when fan is put on full speed.

The squeel from the engine only last for a couple of seconds and only happens when it has been raining.

When it is squeeling the car runs a little rough and the fan is quite weak, when the squeel stops and everything returns to normal.

sounds like your alternator belt is slipping or stretched

locate the belt and push your finger down about 2 inches away from the alternator, how much play is there in the belt

Just discovered that the squeeling is the heater blower, the squeeling started so turned fan off to have a listen and it stopped, started fan and it started again.

Any ideas on how to stop this squeeling?

prob one of the bearings dried up

could try lifting off plastic cover and give it a good blast of wd40 but your car will smell for a while
