Well my clutch has just burnt out due to the snow and conditions
and now the car wont start the starter turns but doesnt turn the engine (could this be the solornoid on the starter or to do with the clutch)
not looking good at the moment could be off the road a while now or even striped (worst case) need to think about it
realy not the best time for this to happen
saying that is there ever a good time lol

What a nightmare Lee. Did the clutch just go?

it not totaly gone but lots of smoke and the smell of the clutch
biting point right at the top of pedal wouldnt think it would last a trip to work
but have to bump start the car now as starter just turns but nothing happening

I am sure you will get it sorted, not sure how big a job it is on these cars but found a couple on ebay.

Im sure my clutch is on it way out? It feels lumpy half the time ( mainly when car is at low speed or stand still ) and is hard to get in gear. example: 1st - 2nd and reverse. But if im goin like 60mph or above, its fine.

Someone said to my at work it could be the master cylinder?? ...No idea! lol.

if its the same as with the x18xe1/f17 setup then 2 diy mechanics should have iit done in a day

think vx qoute 5-7 hours in the workshop costa about £700+ vx prices

£500ish indipendant garage

shame your not nearer i know a guy thatd do the fitting for about £180

it seems strang to me that the clutch and starter to fail at the time

might be starter soliniod is stuck had this problem on my 2.2 vec occasionally usually sorted its self out after a bump start i had mine replace by vx and it still did it

wel at those prices it looks like the car will be going the same way as Daz's

why not have a go at it yourself if your only going to strip it any way

best to ring round you might find somwhere desprate for work that theyll do it cheaper

will see what happens with getting a clutch have done stuff lke this before but i had the space to do it then and would aslo have to hope for good weather

Not good lee.....i have a starter her if you need one tho m8....would sell you my clutch too,but i wudnt fit 2nd hand one anyhow,....
