HELP,I THINK MY ENGINES HAD IT!!

Hi guys,
I recently had my chain kit replaced in my 51 plate Astra 2.2 SRI and all has been running well until sunday.
I drove down to brighton and on the way back the oil light has come on and wont go off and besides that the engine was ratlling again and didnt drive the same :wtf:
The oil was fine before as i checked it before i left and topped it up and it was still fine when i got home.The only thing is that now the light still wont go off and the car really sounds like it has had it! My friend said its sounds like the bottom end is knocking...Does this sound right??
If needed how much is another engine going to cost me??

Ok thanks.Does it sound to you like the engine has had it as well?
I dont even know if i can be bothered to spend any more money on it! :cry:

i dont really no m8 could be anything might be simple m8 but i sure some 1 on here would be able too help but if not maybe take it some where to get it checked out

sounds like the oil pump pressure relief valve is stuck open - thus no oil pressure

or the oil pick up pipe is blocked in the sump

or the oil pump has failed

it might be worth having the oil pump changed and the sump removed to inspect the pick up pipe

Iv checked everything over again and have realised the car has no oil in it! So Iv put fresh oil in it and the car sounds normal again.
But now iv noticed oil leaking under the car which was probably the case of this happening in the 1st place!! Iv had a look around the engine and iv noticed the leak looks like its at the bottom under the engine somewhere......Any ideas??

When you had the chain replaced was a flush done on the engine?

could be your sump gasket leaking or somehting higher up.

When i had the chain replaced the engine didnt get flushed as it had been serviced 3 days before.
How much is a sump gasket?

sump just uses silicone sealant, check the crank pulley oil seal first
