carbon fibre vinyl

has anyone ever worked with carbon fibre vinyl my idea is to get hold of a sheet an stick it on the rear vauxhall badge i think if i layed it on top and heated it gently it would take the shape of the badge nicely but wanted to know if anybody had ever tried anythin like this before,theres a 1m by half metre sheet on ebay for a tenner that looks ok and if it works i wanna do the chrome strip below the boot handle aswell because i have the carbon look front grille at the front and could start a bit of a theme

Halfords used to do carbon dipping but it was expensive and not sure if they still this service. For a £10 it may be worth a go yourself.

i think ill try it got a few things to do before pv 09 and hope to get it all finished for then ill post some pics (if i dont mess it up that is) 😃

it will be a bit fiddley on the badge but if u heat it up nicely and really take your time and work it in gentley it should work. make sure you key up the shinney vauxhall logo first so the glue can stick to it nicely.

cheers for the tips might sound daft but what about the oven or micro wave ?

wid that way ya not going to have as much control but if you where to use a heat gun you can start and stop whenever

heat gun only lol. put it on the oven way to hot and a microwave will melt it after prob blowing it up from the chrome coating on the badge will make an electrical storm in the microwave lol

yer so heat gun or hair dryer if you dont have a heat gun. and i dont think she would be to happy with a pile of bricks lol.

Ive only used/put on a carbon fibre look sunstrip on my first mk4 and that looked really good! 🙂 But never done anything like that before. Give it a go mate, Your not gonna cry over a tenner if it goes tits up! lol ...Let us know how it goes!

sure will am goin munich stag weekend tmorow so am gonna order it when i get back so hopefully in the next 3-4 weeks i will of had a go and can put some pics up

another good idea i got a carbon wrapped front grille from polish ebay for 30 quid and thats what got me thinking the ideas are endless centre console was another one i was thinkin about but i need practice 1`st
