There is a guy in germany who is running 295 with standard pistons but with up rated rods I believe. Jon will help there of a quick search on the german forum. I don't know if he has special valves / head or not. I would recommend replacing the valves and if you do that you might as well do the springs then or be aware you have to trip the head off again when you want the springs doing which you will need for s/c cams.
I am having the fuel pressure drop on mine at about 330 so a swirl pot/ hp pump arrangement would be a good idea rather than a larger in tank pump IMHO
