that gap above the ashtray

ive seen a few astras with another headunit in this gap but cant understand what you would use it for has anyone else filled this gap with anything interesting it just seems like it sould have summat there audio or otherwise

Some models came with a 6 CD holder in there.

yeah but then i seen the stero in that bit and gauges in the top 1 on some turbo models i was thing about maybe putting a foldin out screen init not to sure tho

first i had the cd holder there then i changed it to a pop out screen but in the end it was shit so then i put my guages there then did not like that and moved them now i am going to get a pop out try for my laptop next for live software to go with it.

its one of those places that should have something in it what gauges could i put in a non turbo coupe i can only think of oil pressure and fuel pressure but want something that moves when i rev

oil pressure will mve when revved and so would a manifold vaccum gauge, i have oil temp and volts on mine.

yeah that sonds like the sort of thing i want how much are you lookin at and are they fairly easy to fit am i right in thinkin the dont need a power supply just need something to measure

i think some need power coz some come wid back lights in but you could easly run power to that area

it shouldnt be a prob i ran a 4 gang auxilary fuse box into the cabin under the glovebox to save me goin to the battery everytime i want something electrical inside

incidently if anyone would like some info on how i did the fuse box i would be happy to share the info it saves alot of time and effort in the long run let me know

I plan to put the radio at the bottom and have 3 gauges at the top. One for boost, one for Oil Temp and one for Volts. I was wanting to put my double din Pioneer into my Astra but that seems like too much hard work lol. I will be getting the Jvc sat nav dvd single din head unit instead.

i had a dvd player in my last car that i was gunna sell but i dug it out and got it workin it fits the gap perfect so i just need to think of some way to hide it to avoid smashed windows because its not got a face of facility some sort of slide down door or summat any ides would be welcome

I put the radio on the bottom when I fitted the blue LED kit, but I swapped it back, as it just didn't feel right

how easy is it to swap and put the radio in the bottom? ive still got the standard radio.

easy pull itout mate and pull the wiring loom down to the bottom and put the radio in place. easy
