lambda sensor spacer size?

i know that the top hole is 1/2 inch, but what is the size of the smaller one?

im gonna attempt to make a spacer at college (worth a try and free)

what if i got a solid block and drilled out top half by 1/2" and then dril a hole (of correct size) in bottom half?
or best to have a hollow tube with only the end drilled? if that makes sense lol

so it would be 2 threaded nuts, 18mm(1/2" hole) and 18mm ( ??" hole?)

im just trying to think of best way describing my plan! lol
let me try again:

i will get a 36mm solid tube of steal. drill out 1/2" hole in one half and a smaller hole in bottom half (eg 5mm). then thread inside of bigger half to screw in lambda sensor, then the outside of the bottom half to screw into exhaust. would this be addiquate?

or other option, get a hollow tube (1/2") and thread top half to screw lambda senor in. then weld a flat plat on the bottom with a smaller hole (like a washer) and then thread outside of bottom half to screw into exhaust.

hope i have managed to explain my ideas better.

would the top option be too restrictive and not allow enough gasses in?

you can have a 1/2" hole all the way through, the way it works is it moves the lambda sensor 'tip' to be just outside the exhaust pipe, thus then gives the sensor more time to measure the gases and stop eml's

nice one mate. that should make it quite easy to machine!

think im gonna do a few different lengths, see whats best. 25,30,36, 40 mm. see how much material there is and how much time.

it might not cure MY eml fault code, but its worth a try, and it might help someone elses!

i just wasn't sure if you had to have a smaller hole to reduce/restrict the amount that can enter extension/spacer.

as all the other forums and websites say to leave one with the small hole and only drill out the other one.

Yeh i thought that about leaving the top fouler undrilled. But lokking on US ebay who sell these most of them are open at the top.

As said i think it is just to get the sensor out of the direct air flow.

took my old sensor in and went over first design with technician.

going to try the tube with same size internal diameter all the way down, the size of the thread.

try it and see what happens.

he says he wont be able to do it straight away, gonna go back in a week to see if he has had a chance to do it.

i think its m18 or something, they technician at college figured out what pitch it is (if that is the correct termanology - and thats the spelleing! lol)

You may find that the 18mm thread is a Metric Fine Thread also known as a Conduit Thread. M18 can be with a 1mm pitch, 1,5mm pitch and 2mm pitch so you will need to check this out also.

well here is something to start could be welded onto existing fixing point on exhaust would give effect of 25mm spacer

25 mm? im getting the bloke to do total length 36mm. thats from very top, where sensor will butt up to it. to the very bottom. but once its been screwed into the exhaust pipe, will make the protruding part about 25mm.

this way, if it isnt right (doent cure my eml) then just unscrew and try a longer/shorter/norrower one! saves the hassle of welding! little exhaust sealant, bobs your uncle!!

Mine does not protude at all

It's about 50/60 mm long and the hole in the flow is about 6/7 mm dia from memory.

50/60mm long? the non foulers are only 18 mm each i thought! so when joined together, doesnt itt make 36mm?

does the hole in the end actually protrude into the pipe? and is there a need to make it 6/7mm? does that restrict it even more?
