Poundy is usually on this board mate, that's why i mentioned him as i thought he might see this post.

His car is the vectra in this month's Total Vauxhall, there should be a whole article on it. I would have read it by now, but my subscription has gone awol 🙁

I'd love to see someone on here actually have the balls to try it on a Astra G; with all the bumpers and bodykits out there i cant understand how with a little welding and mod of the front panel and positioning of the rad see how you can say it wont fit..wheres your faith?

This is a modification, and with that you obviously have to make modifications dudes...lol tut!

alot of messing about, to do this could reck your car too, shurly internal engine mods are needed to cope with the power, and ecu remap etc, also our is fly by wire, i wouldnt like to try it, rather spend a few grand and just buy a faster car lol

it works very well, the bottom end is good until 285bhp, throttle body is kept so no problems there.

not too sure about the claimed bhp from the uk version as they use the small 58mm throttle body, but a maximum of 220 bhp is likely to be all that's available with a standard exhaust manifold and even 250 bhp is unlikely to be reached with a decent exhaust manifold and the correct 68mm throttle body

wat bout fueling and mapping though would you need to by a stand alone managment thata fully adaptable

the uk version has an extra pair of injectors which have their own ecu

but ideally the sc kit should have a new ecu and the factory sc injectors

main reason why I'm going throttle bodies - the tb kit comes with a new ecu

id rather go for throttle bodies too will sound great and highly tunable, set of cams too and ya rocking lol let us know how it goes etc very interested in that mod walkthedog..

I can only guess that from this last comment that you are unaware of the additional components required to supercharge the 2.2 engine plus their associated cost plus the labout needed to fit them, as it is not as simple as just 'bolting on a supercharger and manifold'. The additional components allow the engine to produce 240 - 250 bhp, which the OE 2.0 engine does not produce.

We use the addition of an aftermarket ecu for fuelling (which is fully mappable), as trying to install a Satrun Ion ecu and wiring loom is an issue, plus there won't be any diagnostics available for it unless you take the car to your local Saturn dealer in the USA!!

Also the alternator on the american engine is driven the opposite way, so wouldn't work on a 2.2 engine.

We are looking at a low blow conversion that doesn't require the head to come off, thus cutting down the labour costs considerably, which should produce around the 190-200bhp mark.

I agree throttle bodies sound great, but they will not produce the same level of torque as supercharging, plus have you heard the noise a supercharger make under full chat!!

if you add up the cost of importing the sc kit, buying a mappable ecu, odds and ends, you will have little change from £3k dunno..

so £2k to fit and map is quite reasonable 🙂

BUT we are tight sods and want a sc for as little as possible :lol:

So a cheaper version would be welcomed cheers..

How about a diy kit, as many members can easily fit them themselves notsure.gif

Yeah there's about 1500 quids worth of odds and ends plus the manifold and supercharger...... plus the supercharger you import from the US will not have the correct pulley so that will need changing. And it the cost of the imported bits could cost more if you get stung for improt duty!

We are definitely looking at a low blow kit to keep costs down. The high power set up could potentially be supplied in component form, but it will still need mapping and setting up correctly. Plus we do not have fitting instructions for it ..... lol

very well, my 1st gear has almost no traction....its running 10psi, 9 on a hot day. the sound of the whine is awsome 😃
the install was a 3 day pain (did it myself). its really fun in curves bcuz once you hit the apex you can floor it and the s/c just pulls you straight out of it lol

That's my car!!!! That was taken by a customer during the final stages of the conversion although a few things have changed since that picture was taken and there has been a lot of additional tweeks and components fabrication to get it all to fitn neatly and look as OE aas possible.

The pulley we use is one that we spec for the conversion on the VX220 (we don't use the GM OE pulley), so I just carried that over to my car.

It has taken a while to do, mainly because I have had to carry out the work in the evenings and weekends, but it is now up and running and performs absolutely brilliantly.

The car will be at PVS so we won't release any finished engine pictures for the time being.
