cpwfos hi im new on here im also member of migweb but this site is more specific to my needs ,anyway i was interested in the pre cat removal mod but what sort of power gains are you looking at and what efect will it have on your mot emissions test im driving 2.2 astra bertone coupe cheers.. cheers..
blue_se2 Hello and welcome to the site It will not affect the MOT emissions for start. There are not great gains to be had with just removing the pre cat about 5 BHP? But it will help in the future when other mods are added with it and 5 BHP for free is worth the effort to start with in my eyes??
sdbutler10 nice easy mod as well just need to drill the old unit out. as blue said 5bh is a rought gain from this so worth the free mod.
Matt blue se2 said: Matt you spamming again lol Of course not mate, just advising the OP that his thread had been moved
cpwfos cheers for your advice i have already deristricted the airbox and have a k&n panel filter so removing the pre cat could add up to over 10 bhp gains altogether which is worth it, does anyone know what the zafira z22se has thats different to the astra coz in the power figures the zaf has 2 bhp more and 10lb of torque for the same engine if this is an easy mod id like to have a go ta
chris_uk i think the 5bhp gain is rubbish mate, i doubt you would see it i had mine on the rolling road, no precat, ported TB and K&N filter, it hit 143bhp it does sound abit better tho.
JohnnyN You will gain in the torque area and the odd few BHP. The precat is very restrictive so every little helps as Asda say! As for 10 BHP, that would probably be a little optimistic with the panel filter and airbox mods. If you were to get a decent 2.5 inch catback then you'd be well on your way. ;-)
cpwfos nice one, has anyone tried one of these Large Bore Cold Air Feed Pipe - Astra G/Zafira A from courtenay or is a vectra c intake better
