variable inlet manifold???

are the standard inlet manifold variable? (vectra)

i've had a ramdom misfire code come up. changed coil pack, coolant temperature sensor and egr valve.

still coming up!!!! mechanic thinks the valve on the inlet can stick open/shut.

my car doesnt feel like it is actually misfiring though!!

no there is no valve in the inlet other than the throttle body.

so does any one have any ideas what could be bringing up this fault code?!

Depends if you have a Z22SE or Z22YH (direct), the YH has 4, think there called swirl flaps, in the inlet manifold, the linkage goes on these and is quite common, same system as fitted to the CDTi's.

My Se misfires a little under no load and only on cold start up. Think Benny mentioned it could be a duff hydraulic lifter.

mines in a vec b. and doesnt actually seem to misfire. cant feel it or tell. only fact light flashes and reads the code on diagnostic

What spark plugs are you using? these cars are very temperamental about what plugs you put in them

it had a full service in october. but bought some new ones today actually, just fitted them. no difference though! but i bought some gm ones from a vx dealer.

the car still doesnt seem to miss while driving. the light seems to flash when i lift off the throttle. and when idling, the revs dont seem to settle, bit lumpy.
thought about maybe the idle control valve, would explain the idling, but would it cause the light to come on when lifting though?

no idle control valve on 2.2's

the flashing light means your cat is being damaged

i put a new sports one on in november. will it be f&*%ing that up?

cause thought it would only mess it up if the car was actually missing quite bad, and for a while.

you you reackon if i blank off the egr valve that might help?

stop the lumpyness and the eml coming on?

i dont know anything about the inner workings of an engine.

i've gone past confusion, past anger, now its dispear! i just want it done now. i keep getting advice from different people, telling me its probably this or this.

you have always seen to be honest and know what you are talking about. what would be your next step? (had new plugs, coil pack, coolant temp sensor and egr valve)

what fault code are u getting? give us a clue

And if in doubt, change the lambda sensors

its only giving me p0300, random misfire one.

when i put in the new sports cat, about 2 months ago, i damaged one of them. it came up in the test, so changed it and code for that went away. but the p0300 hasnt yet!

it is either cts, injectors, lambda, crank sensor, coil pack, compression [mechanical problem], could even be the fuel pump

i know its not the cts or coil pack.

is the vx test more thourough? could they get fault codes that other machines cant?

cause while in there today getting plugs, i asked how much. its £37.?? for a tech 2 test. is that the best test or is there a better one they do?
