Gazza im in the middle of fitting a dvd player to my car there are 3 wires all colour coded with plugs on which is fine i know where they go there is an earth which i know where it goes, the problem is i have a red and yellow wire which i have no idea what to do with ? am i right in thinking these need to attach to the red and yellow wires on the back of the head unit ?
dodger I assume these connect to the back of the head unit. One wire will be permanent live (Battery) and the other is switchable live (Ingition Switch)
Matt Have you not got the adaptor still on the back on the wiring loom for the stereo? It should notmally just be a case of plug and play if you have. If not, normally, the red one if the permenant live, and the yellow is the ignition live.
Gazza no wire loom has gone notsure.gif so would i wire red to red and yellow to yellow ? i have done that and i have power going to the dvd but no pic on the screen or option to select it ? and when i turn on the ignition it blows the fuse
Gazza yea sure am it's great here are a couple of pics and one of my new interior lights which look great when its dark 😃
Gazza yea just a couple more bits and it will all be blue led's inside it's getting there. may have a lightish tint put on the windows to keep it a bit darker inside 😃
JasGriff Looking good gaz.... Noticed that your temp display is still working with a diff stereo. Did you buy a little box to do that?
Matt The temperature and clock display will still work with any stereo. It's the radio information display which you will need to buy an adapter for. My parents had one in their old Vectra for a Kenwood head unit. The adapter cost £90 though, which is a bit much just to get the station name on the display
