cam chain help needed!!!!!!!!!

hi guys,not been on for a while,got trouble at work etc,got a sri150,done 53k,want to get chain done!does anyone know a chap called benny on here,was recommended off vvoc to get it done by him?do i need to get both chains done at same time?or is balance chain reuseable?any input grateful :think:

Hi, I've just bought a 2001 vectra on a "Y", it was lumpy on idle but seemed to be fine when accelerating. The other day my wife went out in it, only round the corner! When she came out of the shop it wouldn't start for her, so I went to see what was up. I got it to start but it had a major mis-fire, wouldn't rev over 2k then it cut out and won't start, sounds like it's got no compression, i.e. turns over very quickly, also every now and then it'll backfire through air inlet. The cars done 100k. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi people, just to update my earlier post, it's 100% not cam chain. Everything else is still as it was, did have a fault code of P0443, which is Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit. I've got no idea what that is, what it does or why it would stop my car's engine running please help??

the evap purge valve sits on the air filter box, simply remove the pipe going to the engine and temporally block it off, I doubt this would stop the engine running.

have you done a compression test ?
