Hi All,
Just after a bit of help / advice on my 51 plate 2.2 Astra SRI,
I have owened the car for the past five and a half years and it hasn't caused me a moments trouble until last week.
I started the car and it cut out straight away, after pumping the accelerator and turning for twenty or so seconds it fired up but required the accelerator to be pumped as tickover was un steady for five or ten seconds. The car then run but seemed to be holding back up to 3000rpm then would pull like normal. The car now reluctantly starts requires accelerator to be pumped and lots of turning and is now making a rattling sound on tickover (will tickover no problem when started). Would I be right in guessing the tensioner on the chain would start working at 3000rpm as pressure is built up forcing the oil through the jet. I have spoken to Vauxhall who say my car has no outstanding recalls. I was not aware of the cam chain problem and it has never been done.
