random misfire!! .please help.

is there a chance (i know long shot) but a dodgy relay could be causeing my misfire?

they do get hot and overheat

something inside could be fused

for your fuse to pop a few days later after replacing then u need to work out why it popped when u were at a petrol station

and if its not just a dodgy fuse, then there is a hell of alot of wires and conections to test!

it would seem that the missfires wasn't related to the fuse. if a relay.

i would book it into an auto electrician

some of them are pretty cheap

i would go around each sensor and check the wiring closest to the connector

remember the ecu is on the inlet manifold so it is easier than most cars to fault find

i heard of the ECU wiring melting together as they pass through the bulkhead

i've picked up new relays today, gonna fit them and see if it blows the fuse agian.

the car is booked into vx on thursday for a diagtnostic. rather than reading the code (which i obviously know lol) they will check all sensors. i know i can buy a reader. but will see if this can help do it first, if not, then might buy one soon.

if nothing comes of thursday, then will think about the auto electrician line. as dont think my fault will be mechanical.

if the insulation has melted on the two wires to the lambda sensor (say for example as i know they are near a heat source) and the conductors touch. wouldnt that be enough to blow the fuse?

dont go to vxhall for a tech2 test

all they will do is plug in the tech2 and clear any codes and see if anything comes up

they failed to diagnose my fault and tbh they wont do much else for 90 quid or whatever they charge

your best off looking for an auto electrician, you can get mobile ones as well

i know with vxhall is that they will charge you for tech2 test and then ask if you want further testing at an additional cost of 90 quid an hour, that is how much they charge for electrics

specify your booking it in for electrics rather than the tech2 m8

the chances are they will advise for new wiring loom and ecu 🙂

yes that would cause the fuse to blow

when i booked it in with vx, i told that i dont need the code reader as know what it says. and that i want them to read the live data of the sensors to check whats going o. and to either print off the data or write it all down so i have the results, so i can post up here.

also, they can check timing etc. they were trying to charge £35+ for just half hour to read fault codes (he reackoned that would take about 15 min) then other 15 min for little diagnostic. but in stead, i booked her in for an hour of live tests. £75.

i know they will prob try to rip me off and get more money out of me, but i know what i need, timing and then print off of live data. they can go swing if they expect more. cause thats all i need from them.

just reading the wiring diagram in my haynes, and was wondering what the secondary air pump is about.

on the 2.0 engines it was to force air into the exhaust manifold to help warm up the cat

what does it do on ours? in the haynes manual it says there is a relay for it.

prob to stop electrical interference on your radio and sensors

have u gone around all your engine sensors as there is only about 10 of em

slowly yeah, not quite gone round all of them yet. im checking plugs/contacts

do you have the secondary air pump? cause in the main fuse box, i dont have the fuse there. but do have both the contacts in there for it.

i am sure if it was unplugged the eml would come on

i am sure on the z22se there is nowhere for the air to be pumped into the exhaust manifold

i havent noticed it yet

the only pump we got is clipped to the air box and that is for the fuel tank vapours

when you get a chance next mate, dont suppose you could check in you main fuse box? think it will just put my mind at ease lol.

look for airpipes going into your exhaust manifold but i doubt u find any

there isnt an air injection valve or pump on the z22se engine m8

it is only for the 1.6 a.8 2.0 and 2.5 according to my epc

as for fuse boxes etc they are generic almost in the vectra

suppsoe to be inbetween the battery and the coolant expansion tank but i aint gone one cos my oil catch tank is there

i am sure vvoc might be able to help 😛

went out and had a look mate, got the fpr pipe and then another one below it. dont know if it will be clear in the pic. but was wondering what this is.

the pipe im unsure about is the one that comes down, has a round bit on it, then goes into the inlet manifold below the fpr pipe and the other vacume/breather pipe

it is the brake servo

look inbetween your battery and coolant expansion tank against the inside of your passenger front wing
