..Hi, just got my Laptop back as its been away since before Christmas. Kate got me an ipod Touch and Ive set up an iTunes account on the home computer and spent ages transfering my CD`s on to my computer and player.

Now the laptops back and I`ve installed iTunes on to it.....top menu bar - gone to,.... store, authorise computer and entered my account details but....
..it will only allow me to transfer my purchased items...hence I stand to loose 60 odd albums if I try it.

...can this be avoided, dunno.. (ie do I have to transfer all my Mp3 `d albums from my home computer to the laptop??)

You need to set it to Manually update your IPOD, otherwise it will delete what is on there.

Thanks Matt......it still comes up saying data will be erased all bar what Ive purchased ( shown on laptop ) - ( 1 album and 2 short vids ). May just leave it on the home computer, just would be handy when away on Detachments as its an ideal time to nab music of other people.

I can tell mine not to update automatically, and just plug it into any computer and grab music (as long as it's not been purchased through iTunes)

Ah gotcha....I thought I may be able to transfer ipod to laptop.
Being able to do what you just mentioned is spot on.

No worries mate, you can get 3rd party software that will allow you to copy the music from the Ipod to the computer, but it's not a "standard" feature of iTunes

Yeah, just spoke to Neil on the phone and he mentioned that this was avaliable.
Will look in to it.
