Maybe another intake manifold for upgrade...

Well I thought I would pass this on to you guys as well...

I had been watching this inlet manifold on ebay for a while and finally bought it, it was from a 01-05 Saturn L-Series car.

From the picture it looked like a 2.4L inlet manifold so I thought Id take a chance and get it. This is what I found.

Here are pictures of the 3 manifolds, the Saturn, 2.4L(broke), and a typical 2.2L

Now it seems the Saturn one I bought has runners the same size as the 2.2, but the ports going to the head are slightly larger than the 2.4L
The TB port is the same as the 2.2L as well. If I keep it it will take some modification to work as the TB was different, a spacer will be required and provisions for my MAP vac. line and brake vac. will need to be made.

The runners seems bigger and shorther... good for hi-revs power.
For sure it needs to be tried...
What is the part number of this manifold ??
Do you have pictures taken from the sides of each manifold ?

No I dont have any pics side to side but I can 🙂.

I want to test it but, I need a pretty good reason because my mid-engine setup is a PITA to do the manifold on, hardly fits getting it in and out.

Either have I, Im just not sure if its worth time to make the modifications for it to work if it doesnt flow more than the 2.2L inlet

theonly way to find out is to have a go really go on the rollers before and after to see as well.

I just purchased a G-Tech, which is a very handy little tuning device just for something like this. BUT- a manifold job is a PITA on my car, and it needs some mods. Idk what to do 🙁

Something else to note, the Saturn's ports are shorter, I cant get my hand in to it but it looks to be about 2-3 inches shorter than the typical 2.2. I assume this may put the power band into a higher RPM range.

it has a very small plenum chamber, so ideal for forced induction

the 2.4 inlet manifold is better than the 2.2 standard manifold on a NA engine because it has a better plenum

I dont really think its ideal for a turbo conversion....its plastic! Wont exactly take much boost!
