Engine Rebuild

Hi all, after some good advice and a bit of thought i have decided to rebuild my engine using another block.

Just wondering if and what special tools i may need??? I have all the general tools just wondering if you would need vauxhall specific tools?

Also whilst on rebuild apart from replacing head bolts and timing chain what other bolts or parts are recommended to be changed????

there are a few good threads on this site, this is one of mine

you just need the torx sockets to remove the head, a torque wrench, an angle gauge for tightening some bolts and general tools

replacing parts depends on what you find, certainly the timing chain is worth removing

you could do the balancer shaft delete whilst the engine is out

Think i will do those mods while the engine is out. Will also do the precat removal.

Which way on a Vectra C is easier????????

Remove engine conventional way on a crane out of the top or removing the subframe complete inc engine and gearbox from underneath considering gearbox needs to come out as it also has a hole in it???

I usually pull them out the top, but either way can be done

Ok will have a look then, I would have to borrow an engine crane to lift from the top so might try the cradle method first. cheers..
