Howdoo
I am situated in Melbourne Australia.
I am originally from Warrington, u.k.
My missus is driving a Holden Zafira, 2001 model, with the Z22SE motor fitted.
Its done 70 kilometers and you guessed it the chains are rattling their nuts off on start up and the a little random tinkle once warm.
after doing a lot of reading on the web, it appears that this is a common fault, and that there has been a massive recall in the uk.
T o cut a long story short, i have got all the parts together to change all chains and tensioners, last night a found out that the cause is the oil spray nozzle getting blocked, so i thought that i better change that too.
it is a bad time of year to get parts, and i wanted to do the job in between chrissy and new year.
I got all the other parts including a new water pump, thermostat etc while i am down there from my local trade car parts joint, but they cant get me a new nozzle/jet until the new year.
So i have resorted to buying it from Holden, They claim to know nothing about the recurring problem, although one of the younger mechanics, said in more words than one that he had done a few because the jets block.
The replacement part no they are getting for me is 12577163, Can anyone tell me if this is the correct replacement jet/nozzle as i do not want to fit another problem to the car and have the same prob again.
I thought that i would ask the people who clearly know most about this motor here on this site.
Any advice about the job will be appreciated, i have looked in the manual and it looks pretty straight fwd, once you have made a couple of crude holding tools.
Also when i remove the pulley from the cam shaft, what is the best method of stopping the engine from rotating while i undoo the bolt? It is an automatic by the way
And the manual says that i should replace several of the bolts for new, like the one that holds the pulley on, how important is this?
Cheers people
Also just been poking around a bit more on the site, Is it possible to modify my jet by taking out the brass insert?
Should i be replacing the cam sprockets as well a they were not in my kit?
