What would work best?

OEM size / +0.5 / +1

Waisted stem or standard

Stainless or is inconel recommended

Cheaper the better (OK so that doesn't really work with the above!)

I'm not an expert on valves.. but the standard ones work just fine on the stage 2 sc conversion I've never heared of anyone upgrading them for this.. or are you looking to go further?

I would go for standard size wasted stem, much better flow and you don't need to have the seats enlarged

it's certainly worth getting a supertech valve spring kit, I regretted not fitting double valve springs on my phase 1 build

Karo is selling a +0.5 kit with inconel exhausts... for the same price as a normal nitrided Supertech kit.
Almost every aftermarket solution is way better than OE ones, just depends of how crazy your build will be

It's more a case of future-proofing at the moment, and to be honest I haven't decided whether to stay NA, or take the SC route (I keep on convincing myself I want TB's then drifting back to the Courtenay pages :think: )

I know that oversize are good for higher NA output, but was wondering if there are any negative effects they bring with FI. I will prob get the valves fitted by a shop anyway to be fair, so don't mind paying for a bit of extra machining

After some good advice from Stuart over on .org it looks as though either sodium filled or inconel ex valves are deffo worth paying the extra for

Are the valve springs really worth _£300 (all in), I can get a set with higher compression for less than £100 from some of the British cam manufacturers dunno..

I've got a similar dilema after the turbo i really need to have a drive of an SC car as IMO the throttle response, or lack of it, ruined the VX experiance for me.

Plus now that the manifold is available I'm tempted to build my own tb setup, some of the guys I worked with a Lotus now run AT power who make TB's with a spindle less butterfly valve.

Anyway back to the original point oversize valves will only give a very small increase on a FI engine and IMO only needed if you're chasing 350+bhp.

I looked at the AT power stuff and seriously considered them, but they lack feedback...

webcon might possibly supply more of the itb parts seperately, might be worth asking them, save you trying to find the throttle pedal + cable etc

Looks like a call to Karo is in order then - no doubt I'll get carried away and spend ££££s 😃

Webcon will sell parts of the kit individually btw, tho you pay a premium for it :thumbup:

well if you do get bigger valves you can always pop over to Leighton Buzzard and use the guy who did mine, £90 + vat including a skim, very good price 🙂

I've already got them in my favourites :thumbup: Got quoted £180 + VAT by two places down near Reading, and even then it was dependant on the amount of work needed :crazy:

Is there a 'cheaper' way to get stuff over from the States ( :angel: ), or will Karo already be familiar with this

Do I get rods/pistons whilst I'm there :eh:

I have a bare block, no crank or anything, you can have for a tenner

get the eagle rods, you won't regret that decision 🙂
