Surely not at 44,000 miles

Hi I'm hopeing someone can help me.
Having just recently purchasted a 2.2 sri vectra on a 51 plate I'm horrified that the timming chain has snapped, and I'm sure I will be presented with a rather large bill when it's fixed, I know it's out of warranty but i'm fairly sure that this shouldn't happen at this sort of millage. If this is a comon ocurance can some one please let me know as I'm hoping vauxhall might just help me to pay some of the costs if not then my long running relationship with vauxhall will come to a premiture end.
Your Help in resolving this matter will be really appreciated.

hi and welcome to the site,i have moved this to the cam chain section,and as for a reply have a look around the camchain section im sure you will find a few answers if not ask. this shouldnt happen on any car in my opion it whether you can get vauxhall to give you some of the £ towards it.

has it got full vauxhall history ?that's the first thing they will ask you.

Bad luck Paul, no it should not happen at 44,000 miles. Then again I have just got mine back after my cam chain snapped at 40,000 miles.

Hope you have good luck getting it sorted with vauxhall. Don't let them fob you off

Hi mate, I wouldn't worry about it too much, it is definately guaranteed for upto 60,000 miles OR 6 years, Vauxhall have no choice, they have to pay out for any engine damage, by law. I had 2 sleepless nights and 2 hours on a phone to sort my chain problem out, but as soon as consumer rights and solicitors are mentioned they poop their pants.
