here's my estate right after purchase

not long before I started to mod...
Dual backboxes with 4.5 inch tips (sadly they got bent on a driveway

So I replaced the tips with nice DTM ovals

the headlights started to bug me so I pulled them off took them apart and painted the insides

next was the ride height stock was too high

Some intrax springs did the job nicely

next I wanted a bit more power so on went a custom intake pipe and a cone filter

next up was the exhaust sure it looked pretty good but with a 1.75 inch pipe it was too restrictive
so I upped it to 2.25inch single and finished it with a nice twin outlet slashed rolled tip

I then changed the manifold to a higher flow mani from a cobalt SS
I have been autocrossing this car for a while now and it's OK but I need more power so......

I have pulled the Short ram intake and replaced it with the standard air box (fully de-restricted) and a good 3in cold air feed. I have gone from 145 bhp to 166 bhp by just swapping this back. Next up is one small restriction in the exhaust. I have one place where the original flanges are used 1.75 inch on a 2.25 inch pipe, this go bye bye real soon. 170 bhp without tuning here I come

as they look very much like saab alloys

in the uk only saabs get the alloys your saturn(vectra) has

other than liking your mods

and getting upto 170bhp without tuning hats off to you

I'm actually quite surprised that I'm doing as well as I am considering I started with just 130bhp. If I can get some tuning this estate may top the bolt on power gains board.

I have one restriction in the exhaust system left. I'll post pictures when I eliminate the last restriction.

Sadly yes these 17kg Saab alloys are standard on my Saturn I want to replace them with something wider and lighter.

here are the new flanges for my cat I used a brand new MIG so the welds are not perfect.

this should flow a bit better than the OEM 1.75 inch stock parts

dyno results are in 139.6 wheel HP thats 169BHP folks and no tune on the original injectors.

I'm pretty sure I'm at the limit of the standard inlet and injectors . I could eek out a touch more with a tune but I think this will do for now.

Next up will be 24# injectors a tune and a 2.4 inlet. perhaps I can hit 180bhp on stock camshafts

a few people have said that the inlet manifold is the most restrictive part of the engine

but others have said when fitting the 2.4 manifold they lose torque during the midrange and gain it up top

i got a ported tb and custom intake hose and it hardly made any difference, suppose for those two parts to be more useful then the 2.4 manifold would need to be fitted

nice work man... for your injector try the redline one, with your 2.4 intake mani should be good... and a bored tb will complete your intake setup 🙂

our saturn at stock height are really too high these cars really do NEED to be lowered cheers..
