Washer Jets

Hi Folks

I've got a Vectra C 2.2 SRI 05

Am finding the Windscreen Washer Jets a bit of a nightmare...they're always frozen/not working and never work together...even when the engine has been hot for hours. Have been using screenwash (not too much) and to be fair they have been getting used alot (I spend lots of time on wet Motorways). Have also checked the nozzles for clarity.

Anybody else find these a bit 'weak' or know of any common problems i.e inferior pump/motor. Or even if an upgrade canbe made.

Just use a higher concentrate of screen wash. I use a ratio of 1:1 this time of year.

If they are blocked it could be the lines in side that are gunged up a blast with a air line through the nozzles will help clear them.

Otherwise if it is the same pump as the astra at the top of the pump is a small gauze that gets blocked and slows the flow of water. I have had to clean mine a few times. I am not sure if it is the same design on the Vec C though.

You can get heated jets for the C mate, the electrics just plug in to a socket under the scuttle panel (some have socket some dont but can be wired into fuse box). Some cheap screen wash can leave a sludge build up. It might be worth flushing the system. The front bumper can be popped of in 5 mins to gain access to the reservoir.

Cheers...heated jets are the answer I think. Will flush and clean the system at the weekend and take it from there. Life on a Scottish Motorway aint too good this time of year!

hi mate, i had the same problem, on my old vectra c, it was just the filter blocked in the washer motor, located in the passengers side wing behind splash guard. just take the 2 pipes of, then the motor can just be pulled out[it sits in a rubber gromet] clean the filter, put it back together, then it shoul work fine, hope this helps, Guy.. :thumbup:
