No, you can actually increase the lift on a regrind. They achive this by removing material from the bottom of the cam lobe where the follower dwells when the valve is shut. This causes the hydraulic lifter to grow in length to take up the gap. Now the lifter is longer, when the cam rotates to the high spot, you've effectivly pushed the valve open further due to the longer length of the hydroulic lifter.
To explain it another way.....If you remove some material from the bottom of the cam, the distance to the center of the cam is reduced. So now the differace between the distance from the highest point on the cam and the lowest point on the cam is greater, and that is reletive to the amount of lift. 😃
