i can tell u its a 2.25" down pipe size as they see to think it better for out engine they think that the 2.5" is to big.

For a std car layout where the exhaust runs with pretty shallow bends then I'd agree, but in the VX there are the two 90 degree bends and a 180 degree bend that increase the pressure loss considerably. I can't remember the exact numbers I used but I did a 1D calc* and worked out it a 3.5" on a VX would be the same as a 2.5" on a 'normal' car.

*using Miller Internal flow systems.

Its all in 2.25".

We flow tested the products and it show no resistance till just over 215 bhp. The 2.5" prototype we did just lost low/mid range torque until 205 bhp and then matched the 2.25". Granted if you wanted to go the SC route, you would need bigger 🙂

If there is enough interest in a 2.5" downpipe, sports cat and system then i would happily develop it for you but i do think it would be wasted money on your parts. That said, the customer is always right 😉

I fitted a 2.5" downpipe and U bend to my vx220 with a 2" backbox, it made a noticeable difference, well worth fitting 🙂

but then it was running over 200 bhp :lol:

I'm sure the sc guys would love a 3" downpipe and U bend, so maybe the 2.5" would be a good idea to suit both (na + sc)

if the downpipe and flexi were 2.25" with most flow possible then just put on the 2.50" u-bend that should work ok should it not?

id like the 2.50 full system (except backbox) with 200cell cat in 🙂

At the mo only Larini and 2bular (tho I've given up on them) make a 2.5" system, so should be a fair bit of demand

PS, can you make a back box with inward rolled tips (pref in black) instead of outward rolled

Cool, so I got a photo model coming to me after christmas then 😃

Even if I'm planning on SC I suppose it will be ok with 2,25". I will try to get around 255bhp as maximum because I will not change my rods and pistons.

If you're planning SC, I would advise you go for 2.5 inch to get up around the 255bhp. The internals will be okay. I know its a little near the limit with standard rods but I am more than confident that Courtenay when they done mine wouldn't risk a failure.

Yes, we will se if it will be ok with 2,25". Have seen other with standard header and just 2,25" about 250hp. Gues that the extra 3-4hp does not make such a big differance?

Have you been driving much with your car and the supercharger? I am actually working on how to get the money to let courteny put one on my car to. But I will change the clutch and some other stuff before I bring the car over to them from Sweden.

I am working with engine and transmissions at my work so I am a little hard to persuade in leaving a job like this in to some other peoples hand. But if I should do it myself it will take a lot of time that I don't have (just bought me a new house last year). Have thought of leaving the car to Courtenay but since I haven't met them in person I don't know what kind of work they do.

But I have hear only good things of them so far. I have even spoken to them several times and they seme to be a serious bussines.

Only thing is that I want a quite accurate price on the whole deal before I decide to go for it!

You need to speak to Jon Shield. He is the owner and a very good man. Courtenay pioneered the SC on the 2.2 engine. Their conversions are spot on. They have worked on customers cars from all over Europe. They've had a few customers from Sweden. I cannot recommend them highly enough. They have carried out many SC conversions now so there wouldn't be any nasty suprises. They have been in business for 25 years in 2009. They ARE a serious Tuning company for Vauxhall/Opel vehicles.

I have had no problems with my conversion and its only the 2nd carried out on a Vectra B in the world. They have also done an Astra conversion which has no problems.

Courtenay can do this job for you with their eyes shut. Speak to Jon and you can hammer out a price for the conversion and then it'll be down to you which route that you wish to take. Obviously it will be less expensive if you do the conversion yourself.

I spoke to Jon last week - the price for the conversion has been revised slightly (about £500 less) as has the method of implementation. The website should be updated soon too to reflect this 🙂
