Spanner light, again!!! Crank sensor?

Phoned a mechanic this morning and explained the problems with the car. He asked me if the key was working the central locking (yes). He suggested it could be the crank sensor. Apart from the spanner light and EML lights still on, the battery and oil lights are on as well. I diconnected the battery neg lead last night for about a half hour. It started first time then died a few seconds later. Back to square one. This looks like its going to cost me. Thanks for the feed back earlier vocky.

I have a spare crank sensor if thats what you are going to change (£10 posted), I'm not saying that is your problem but it's cheaper than buying a new sensor.

fuel pump relay if she cut out like that, also if is the later 2.2 direct engine it could well be the air flow meter

with a knackered crank sensor it would run in limp mode, it is very unsual for it to cut out once in limp mode,they usually cut out coasting but not at idle also might take a bit of pumping the gas pedal to start her up
