deesastrasri well my astra sri z22se just gave up today starved herself of oil and now big knocking noise so i'm thinking of putting the 2.0 turbo engine in it instead anybody any advice on what to do should i get a 2.2 or go for the z20let engine and what parts would i need for the swap if any one can help it would be appreciated thanks
JohnnyN z20let has been done very well before. Wiring looms, ECU etc for the conversion. If you were paying a Tuner to do the conversion you would be looking at the same price as an SC conversion. Welcome to the site by the way. ;-)
vocky the knocking is caused by the conrods being oval ! you will require another set of conrods + bearings to fix it. the z20let will fit if you use the matching z20let F23 box / engine loom / ecu etc
deesastrasri thanks guys didn't think the engine was fixable but if it only needs conrods and bearings it would be more cost effective to get it fixed and leave more money for tuning since the engine is going to go to an engine specialist any suggestions on what i should get done while it's stripped
deesastrasri getting the head ported and polished does it make much of a difference or is it an economical thing to do still on the hunt to find someone were i live to take it out to get it sent away to be sorted while it's out may as we get it refurbed and new gaskets and chain but what cams would be best fitted and is there much that can be dne to the bottom end or is it basically head wrk? thanks for heping me with this cheers.
vocky porting a head increases the flowrate, this helps to give better mpg and a side effect is more power 🙂
