rattling noise

hi, ive got a metal sounding rattle noise from my n/s/f wheels wen goin over bumps, i fink it mite be my steering rack. im finking of jus replacing the steering racks ends instead of the whole rack, ne1 else expericed a rattle caused by a steering rack?

sounds like the anti-roll bar drop links need changing

As Neil has said, drop links are a prime favourite. £12 from Vauxhall IIRC. Quite easy to replace. I had one snap on my old Cavalier. Made a right old noise going over bumps.

thanks, i forgot 2 mention that it has play in the tie rod at the rack end not the track rod end? notsure.gif

i fink i found out what it is, i fink its the caliper guide bolts rattleing or the pads in the caliper rattleing as i put it front pads about a month ago nd didnt grease them up, couldnt fid ne grease at the time

I wouldn't think that the pads would be rattling around in the caliper?? Once the pressure of the pedal has been built up after fitting the pads, I would expect the pads to sit nice with no slop.

i changed my rear pads on my astra about 6 months ago and was getting a metal sounding rattle from the calipers and it turned out to be the pads were a poor fit and rattling in the calipers! fitted gm ones and noise went
