cam marking really confused.

i have just looked at my cam as will be changin them next week and also paint my rocker cover but looking at the markings on the chain i dont get it.
here are some pics

as you can see there are other marks on there as well ast the proper marks but the real marks just dont seem to line up to anyhting.
plz help what should i follow.

each cam sprocket has inlet and exhaust markings, the exhaust cam should have 'ex' at 10 'O' clock and the inlet cam have 'int' at 2 'O' clock

ignore the chain markings as they move one tooth every engine revolution, something like 700 turns to re-align

that is also a old style chain kit so does need doing ..the best way to time it up is to line the last two cam lobes up with there cam carrier bolts both cam lobes need to point at the inner mounting bolts of there cam caps respectivly ...then the rest of the timing will be inline the woodruf key beeing at the 12 oclock position ..the marks on the new chain will then line up fine ....

i was tolf by vx that it dose not need doing. so if its the old type is it the recal?

all z22se engines before late 2002 are the earlier type chain kit, even the late spec can cause problems if the servicing is poor

i chane my oil every 3k so that will be ok i hope.

Mine is a 2001 and had the old jet fitted but I think it should be fine if you change your oil that regularly. How many miles has the car done though?

Mine is a 2003 and still had the old jet fitted, get the chain kit and do it while you are doing the cams.

the car had 51k on the clock i think i will do the chain soon then.
do i get the new type oils jets when i buy the chain then?

Yep it comes as a kit with new oil jet. Not all but most seem to fail around the 60 - 70K mark. If i was in your shoes i would get it swapped out ASAP esp while you are doing the cams.

It will make the cams even easier to do if you fit the new chain as the marks will all line up first time.
