had to cut the link in half then remove the anti roll bar
the lower bush part was stuck on the car and had to use stilsons to get the bit off

wount be long before they are around in the breakers complete engines for a few grand. work out cheeper than converting a n/a to turbo. or just get a b207r lump I think it is from a saab for a lot less! saab boys running into 400bhp with out major mods just bolt on parts. :)

i have already found a complete vxr j engine :) but its about £2500 out of my price range

WP_000809.jpg WP_000811 (2).jpg

right on to my car its not good :s
my oil pressure light on the dash has not worked for as long as i can remember so picked up a new pressure switch today for europarts when getting the right part for dads car well they f**ked it up again its the wrong part i'm just going to leave it unplugged for now
WP_000825.jpg

i then went on to redo the center joint on the exhaust as it was blowing but found a problem broken flexy

so started to take off the the down pipe and had one of the studs snap off in the flange
then went to take the manifold of to fix the broken stud but then found 4 of the studs on the manifold loose and one broken
one broke the tip while trying to remove it
WP_000830.jpg

b*****d! thats where my ticking has been coming from
WP_000829.jpg

all out
WP_000831 (2).jpg

and here shows the blowing and the broke off stud

its tru lol
but this one was already broken all that was holding it was 2 threads
you can see the end of the broken stud is dirty meaning its been broke a while if it had been just done it would be shiny like the star bit that i broke off :(
it was done when the cat was bashed on a mates drive some time back

good work as allways (y)
when you refit the manifold use copper nuts, makes removing in future much easier!
should be copper on down pipe to mani as well.
i'll have to see if I can borrow a can of JD penetrating fluid for you, its great stuff, even better because its free!!
stripped the head of my cousins disco yesterday in 1.5hours with tidy up time too soaked all bolts with fluid easy job :)
2.5k for astra j engines not bad if its the new gtc one, bit steep if its the old z20ler though.

is that closest to the chain ?

yes mike its the pain in the ass one as theres no room for a drill lol

i used an old m4 tap to mark the center it took 2-3 hits to get it marked then i did start with a 4mm drill but was too big and starting to go blunt so dropped down to an 3mm i think
WP_000855.jpg

found the center and went about 8mm in
WP_000857.jpg

WP_000858.jpg

bit of plus gas on the stub and a wait of 30 min for it to penetrate
WP_000859.jpg

#2 stud extractor fitted
WP_000863.jpg

WP_000864.jpg
