Parts Required 25313359 – Fuel Filter
The fuel filter is located just in front of the nearside rear wheel. To make the job easier, jack the car up and support using axel stands. This gives better access.
Step 1
The first task is to depressurise the fuel rail. The thing you need to look out for looks like a big tyre valve cap, and is found near the injector rail.
Carefully remove the cap, and press the centre pin on the valve to release the pressure.
This will release some petrol as well, so clean up using a cloth and catch the rest to prevent it spraying over the engine. The pin needs to be pressed a few times to release all the pressure.
Step 2
Once you have finished under the bonnet, locate the fuel filter and undo the small Torx screw holding the filter in place.
Once you have removed the screw, GENTLY remove the filter from the bracket. This will give you more room to get at the clips holding the pipes in place.
One side at a time, push the filter into the pipe to relieve any tension on the clips. Once you have done this, depress the 2 “wings” to release it. There is a wing either side of the clip. Then, gently pull the filter from the pipe.
CAUTION: At this point, be ready for some petrol to run out from the Pipe/Filter.
If you are able, this is doable with just your fingers. However, you may need to use 2 small screwdrivers to press the wings in. Repeat for the other side.
Step 3
Using a small screwdriver, carefully swap the clips from the old filter to the new one, making sure they are fitted the correct way round.
It is then simply a case of re-fitting the new filter into the fuel lines. It just clicks back into place. Re-fit the Torx screw.
NB: There is a flow direction arrow on the filter to make sure you fit it so it flows the correct way.
Turn the ignition for 5-10 seconds to re-pressurise the fuel system, and its job done.
