I replaced the coolant tank (again) yesterday, it had only done a few hundred miles but had been stained by the head gasket failure last year :(

After several attempts at cleaning it paraffin seemed to remove 95% of the staining, oh well it will do for a spare

Today I spent a few hours on my milling machine and modified a spare M32 gear lever mechanism to create a quick shift mechanism.

Since fitting the Lotus Europa 6 speed gear linkage the distance between 1 + 2, 3 + 4 and 5 + 6 has been quite long, originally I modified the vx220 gear linkage to create a quick shift.

I forgot to take a photo, but will get one another day. I basically removed the ball joint and fitted another one nearer to the centre, thus reducing the distance required to change gear.

Not done much with my vx for a while, it has just been sat in my garage gathering dust :(

I am trying to find some enthusiasm, but it's just not there at the moment. The vx love / hate relationship really is very true

So being bored the other day I compared the lastest 2.5 catcams rolling road graph with the old 2.2 comp cams graph, I used the stage 1,2 +3 cam graph because it shows the torque curve differences quite well.
Webcon power figures do seem to be quite accurate, the 287 degree cat cams have lost a bit of torque below 3500 rpm when compared to the comp stage 3 cams, but after 4500 rpm they come into their own :)

The cat cams give a torque curve similar to the schrick stage 1 cams, just higher up the range

mapping results 2.jpg

Green = schrick stage 1 cams
Red = comp stage 2
Black = comp stage 3 in my old 2.2 engine
Yellow/ black = cat cams 2.5 litre engine

Is there any video where one can hear it purring?

I have only taken one video of it, when it was sat in my garage with the 2.2 ITBs.

Think it was engine number 3 (2008) before it suffered from a snapped valve which caused £1.5k of damage

pretty poor video too

I really do need to take a video of it driving along, the throttle bodies sound perfect :D

I am currently building up a pile of new parts for the door refurbs, my plan is to strip them down and get them repainted - pretty much all that is left of the original paint on the car

I still have the window lifter mechanisms waiting to be fitted from when I bought them a few years ago. I also have some brand new internal window velvet seals, new door handle triangles and some mirror covers. Not sure what to do with the door panels, might get them trimmed the same as the dash and centre console :)

I have also purchased various other brand new parts :D
