Warm start problem

ok guys, not a 2.2 but still vaux non the less lol

Z20LER engine starts fine and first time when its cool but when it's warm it can take 10 minutes of trying to get it to fire up.

No fault codes either by the way.

It's starting to really get on my tits now and was only intermittent but since the warm weather has come it's just getting worse.

Any ideas on what it could be as I don't want to be throwing money at that's not needed. Tbh I do have a feeling it could be the crankshaft sensor but I would have thought that would have brought a code up :banghead:

Cheers

did have same problem started from cold drove 2 mile , stopped to get papers to read at work ,stood for 3-5 minutes while in shop came out turned over without starting ,left for 5-10 minutes . boom started ,,,,, crank sensor, while it was running it was fine , if I turned it off for a minute - 10 minutes just turned over with no fault codes ,,,,,,,,,

Thanks mate, just as I thought then. Mine isn't as bad as that and only really does it when left in the sun. If it's in the shade it's ok(ish lol)

Now next question is would an aftermarket suffice or genuine? It's just from my understanding it's a non stock item at the dealers ffs.

Well managed to get hold of a dealer with it in stock but it's a 40 mile round trip (either that or wait as my local dealer can't get it in till Tuesday which is a no go with me being away lol)

Going to be £40 lighter in the pocket but it's better then it would be if I couldn't get it on trade club. I've also got a £15 voucher from the service club so I'm hoping they accept that as well

Just to update.....

What a ball ache that was lol. But sensor now changed and started up first time so i have broke anything lol. Time will tell if it cures the problem so ill update on that in due course.

This is a pic of the old one that was all oilled up and the exposed part of the magnet (i presume thats what it is) was brown with marks in it, where as the new one was silver and smooth

I see the problem was in crank sensor. bu can you tell me idle was? is it ok smooth or uneven sputtering (something like this)

You could try the crank sensor if it only does it when warm and take it from there. Thats a risk you need to decide on if you want to spend the money on a new one and it doesn't fix the problem. I wasnt 100% my problem was that sensor but i took a pun and a lot of swearing and cut hands later (its behind the turbo on mine as i have the z20ler engine and not the z22se engine)
